It turned out I'd just missed the chance to see the National Theatre's production of Medea while I was in England, so I saw it through NTLive Collapse ) 8.5/10

The Ryan Effect (Possession [2008]; Roman & Ryan, Roman/Jess; Explicit)

Hi, everybody!

So Yuletide reveals just happened, so I thought I'd make my posts. I wrote my assignment and four treats this year, and had an absolute blast.

This is my assignment. I got matched with redcandle17 on a movie that very few people have even heard of, Possession, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lee Pace. I'm a huge wimp and would never have even watched this movie (billed as a horror movie) were it not for the aforementioned LEE PACE.

This was the request:Collapse )

And here's the primer that I sent to my wonderful beta, htbthomas, when I asked for her help, knowing she hadn't seen the movie: Collapse )

And, now, finally, here's the fic.

As always, I'd love to hear what you think.

Double Down (My Boys, PJ/Brando, Teen)

As it turns out, it's really hard for me to break a habit. In this case, the habit was writing a fic for blithers, who has been a friend and co-conspirator and beta and cheerleader. Based on how often our tastes have matched up, I checked out one of the small fandoms of her heart, My Boys, and immediately saw the virtues of the PJ/Brando pairing.

Here's her request: Collapse )

I enlisted the awesome Diaphenia to beta for me, and she came through. So, here's the fic.

The Size of Dreaming (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Phryne/Jack, Mature)

I always make a hugely long list of treats I want to write, based on the letters that have caught my eye. In this case, mardia jumped to the top of my list because she'd asked for Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (specifically Jack/Phryne) and also because we'd had a very nice exchange in the comments of my first MFMM fic.

This was her request: Collapse )

I'd actually had a vague idea for this fic even before I read the request - a sort of series of ep codas, but I didn't want to repeat the work so many others have done. And for my money the sexiest end scene is the end of 1x10, which I'd already covered in the aforementioned earlier fic. So I got to consider what might tip Phryne over into fantasizing about Jack, which was all kinds of fun. My first beta, blithers, got me to reshape the last scene, and ijemanja approved the changes and Oz-picked for me. I picked the title out of Antony and Cleopatra for reasons that should be obvious to any Jack/Phryne shipper, and I have to say I really enjoy the pun of the quote, the sighs of dreaming.

Anyway, on to the fic! (Just in case it's not clear, the cases noted are 1x01, 1x02, 1x05, 1x12, 2x05, and 2x06.)

Words (Little Women, Jo/Laurie, PG)

I'd written a Little Women fic for the Porn Battle, almost a year ago, and that fic was supposed to be the "Laurie and Jo run off to DC together, disguised as two boys" fic I've long wanted to read. It didn't happen back in February, but cathalin's excellent Yuletide letter reminded me that I wanted to write that story still.

This was the request: Collapse )

I think the request kept me from just letting Laurie and Jo fall into an uncomplicated love straight away, which obviously wouldn't work for these two, no matter how much I WANT that for them. Ahem. So there was a little wrinkle added in, which I think strengthened the story. My pal musesfool very kindly betaed this for me.

If Bare Limbs You Like (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Phryne/Jack, Mature)

And my last contribution to this year's Yuletide haul was another MFMM fic, this time for etben, whose letter was charming and whose requested fandoms indicated that we shared a lot of the same tastes.

This was the request: Collapse )

Ha, so, I guess marveling over Phryne's wardrobe and feeling bad for the rest of the characters for basically having one outfit each led me to consider Phryne dressing up in Jack's clothing. Also adding fuel to the fire was Jack's tendency - he does it at least twice in the 26 eps we've had so far - to insist that what she's wearing "wouldn't work" on him. In any case, the fantastic musesfool not only betaed this eleventh-hour fic but also suggested that I look to Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" for a title, which I did.
