better off ted: healthy competition

Better Off Ted at Yuletide!

Hi, everybody!

(Prepare for me to flood your flists, as this is the first chance I've had to post since before Christmas, what with swine flu, end-of-year stuff at work, a trip with my family, dealing with all of the paperwork from end-of-year stuff, and general exhaustion. Yay for this three-day weekend!)

I am belatedly turning a spotlight on the wonderful, fabulous story that was written for me during this year's Yuletide. All three of the Yuletide fics that were posted in Better Off Ted were seriously amazing and sharp and perfectly in character, but this one was written for meeeeeee! eisoj5 took an offhand suggestion I made, incorporated all of the elements I'd asked for, turned the whole thing up to eleven, and then pushed Ted and the crew into . . . zombieland. You know you want to read it, so here it is!
mr. and mrs. iyer: strength both ways

"Making a Beginning" (Mr. and Mrs. Iyer - PG, post-movie)

And here's the main story I wrote for Yuletide. It's for a film called Mr. and Mrs. Iyer that I first saw at the Philadelphia Film Festival when I was in grad school and loved ever since. If you're interested in a story about relationships, religious conflict, and just . . . the way people can open each other's hearts, then I heartily recommend it.

I had a hard time writing this story because so much of it was so personal, and since I didn't know my recipient, I wasn't sure how much personal detail I felt comfortable sharing. Fortunately, Meena rescued me with her own awkwardness and silence and stifled artistic impulses and the wonderful dotfic did a beautifully sensitive beta.

So here's the story - the summary is "Pitiful is the one who, fearing failure, makes no beginning."

Two Sam/OMC ficlets (NC-17)

Just before Christmas, I'd asked for Sam/OMC and Sam/OFC prompts and I got two. Here are the two teeny ficlets I wrote in response:

earthquakedream said I think it'd be really fun to see Sam with someone who's the total opposite of him - optimistic, happy-go-lucky, who hasn't had anything really bad happen to him before. It'd be interesting to see how Sam reacts to that! And then she named the OMC "Casey."

"Free To Be Thee and Me" (AU of 5x03 - "Free To Be You and Me")

And deirdre_c said How about Sam at the fan convention in "The Real Ghostbusters" hooking up with a fanboy who roleplays Sam Winchester?! *smirk* And she kept on smirking!

"Not Quite a Mirror" (outtake from 5x09 - "The Real Ghostbusters")
